About Us
ACRE was established in 2018 by Don Janes and Allan Jensen, both of whom had prior Senior Leadership roles at Vancity/Citizens Bank of Canada and Alterna Savings, respectively. Don and Allan brought vast experience in commercial credit underwriting and risk management and helped establish ACRE as a trusted source of Advisory Services for Credit Unions across Canada. In 2022, Murray Williamson stepped in upon Allan’s retirement and has since bought 100% of the shares upon Don’s retirement in 2024.
ACRE’s emphasis is on Credit Underwriting/Risk Management and the company has established a stable of experienced Commercial Credit Underwriters with vast experience to assist FI’s on any assignment related to Commercial Banking and Real Estate Credit. Going forward, ACRE is also looking to establish more of a footprint in the digital banking and De-Fi area, as financial institutions begin to grapple with systemic risk around AI and its impact on credit underwriting and treasury management, including payments systems. We look forward to engaging with our Partners on more of this in future years.
Murray J. Williamson
Murray began his banking career with Bank of Montreal (BMO) in 1986 after successfully completing the Bank’s Management Development Program and his formal education (BA/MBA). He is originally a Manitoba native hailing from Winnipeg (Go Jets!). Murray took up several roles in Toronto as a Senior Banker/Credit Manager with BMO and later The Bank of Nova Scotia, Corporate Credit, Europe & Japan, with primary responsibility for the bank’s global shipping portfolio. A transfer to Vancouver landed Murrray in Scotiabanks’s Commercial Banking and Real Estate Units where he led relationship management and underwriting initiatives for the bank’s client base. In 1998, Murray was headhunted by Bank of America (BofA), Global Corporate & Investment Banking, where he spent the better part of his career, retiring from BofA as Senior Vice President, Global Commercial Banking, BC Region, in 2018. In between roles at BofA, Murray also worked for Citizens Bank of Canada (VP, Commercial Mortgages, Ontario Region) and CBRE (Managing Broker, Debt Capital Markets), focused solely on Commercial Real Estate, including Office, Retail, Industrial and Residential sectors. These roles drove Murray to obtain his Mortgage Broker’s Licence to stay on top of emerging trends, training and regulatory matters (including KYC/AML), which license he maintains in good standing at BCFSA.
